Maurice’s love of modern guitar has contributed to his versatility across styles including jazz, blues, folk, rock, reggae and R&B. With over 25 years of experience as a teacher and performer in Toronto, Canada and Jamaica, he has brought his passion for music to a wide range of communities.

Maurice has released three albums and has recorded and toured with international acts such as Jimmy Cliff, Monty Alexander and Mutabaruka, as well as local artists including Shakura S’Aida and Liberty Silver. He has also worked with Jay Douglass and the All-Stars as a bassist and music director, and currently leads his groups Skafire and Pimento while performing as a soloist.

In addition to performing, Maurice teaches guitar to both children and adults and leads workshops exploring music through culture. His teaching focuses on strong fundamentals, using folk, gospel and blues as a foundation for learning modern guitar.
