Justin Maki is a “Flirtatious Jazz-Pop” artist out of London, ON. He is the FCLMA’s 2021 “Pop Artist of the Year” and 2022 “Contemporary Singer-Songwriter of the Year”. Japan born and Canada bred, Justin’s music draws influence from R&B, Soul, Funk, and Jazz, packaged in an accessible Pop format—imagine blending Allen Stone, John Mayer, Bruno Mars, and Robin Thicke. He hopes that his music facilitates a joyful escape for all who choose to listen.

As a touring musician, Justin has played over 1,000 gigs from Halifax to Prince George and has shared the stage with the likes of The Sheepdogs, Measha Brueggergosman, Neon Dreams, and Monster Truck. He has had the pleasure of working with such accomplished producers as Matthew Johnston (Shad, Saveria, Chad Price) and Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, U2, Neil Young).

Justin’s latest release is his debut album, New Flame, a diverse concept album that traverses the different stages of a romantic relationship from first spark to last billow of smoke. If this doesn’t keep him busy enough, he also has a play titled New Flame: The Musical and plans to explore performance and production opportunities in the U.S. As always, he will continue to spread joy through music and expand his audience in the process.

I have known Justin for a while, and let me tell you, it is a TREAT if you find him playing at a local cafe and bar. Not only is he a brilliantly talented soul with music that will touch your heart, but he will often take the time to share a conversation with you. His smile is infectious, and it is very much real. If you have the opportunity to see him - DO SO!!

All I can say is wow!!!! I was not expecting Justin Timberlake level of entertainment; however I don't think Timberlake can play guitar like Maki (or bass, or sax....) we are talking Prince level guitar. Maki's singing is crazy off the charts amazing. He has fantastic covers and his originals are incredible. How he is not a mega superstar is beyond me.
