Josh Cook is a Toronto-based musician and composer whose talents have flourished in the city. While earning his master’s in music composition at York University, he performed with Cool Man Cool, sharing the stage with Pharrell Williams (as N.E.R.D). His passion for studio work grew as he co-wrote and produced the band’s debut album.

Transitioning from performance to digital composition and production, Josh built an extensive catalog spanning hip-hop, orchestral, and electronic music. He has collaborated with artists like indie rock band Simcoe and blues/pop singer Chloe Watkinson. For over a decade, he has also shared his expertise, teaching aspiring musicians across Toronto and the GTA.

Now focused on composing for film and video games, Josh blends his love of sound and visual arts to create immersive experiences. Whether you’re looking to listen, learn, or collaborate, explore his work here—it’s a sound approach to a sound experience!

V. Knox – Short

It wasn't until I retired that I decided to take piano lessons.  Josh gave me the encouragement to learn & improve. Like learning a new language it can be a challenge, we don't all learn at the same level so the one-on-one lesson environment is where Josh has helped me thrive.

My daughter and I have both been taking lessons from Josh. I really appreciate his unique and effective teaching method. Everything we learn has practical applications and produces great results.

I started working with Josh around 6 months ago and it has opened doors in my singing. I have been singing in rock bands for many years and always struggled to get a tone I was satisfied with in my higher range. I’d worked with other vocal coaches in the past, but their approach didn’t seem to help. Where other vocal coaches could only tell me how my voice should sound and feel, Josh is able to give me actionable exercises that actively address the limitations of my singing. He’s able to connect classical theory and practices to the music that matters to me. He’s patient and makes the practice of singing fun. My only complaint is that I didn’t start working with him earlier. I would recommend him for anyone hoping to unlock their own musical potential.
